I totally missed you guys

I made the mistake of checking the weather right before I got ready to go. It was 8. Not o'clock, but 8 degrees.

I suppose the temperature had something to do with the low number of riders for this Fiasco. Counting Joe and myself there were exactly two (2) riders at the Pear Tree. Thankfully, Joe was there to help me polish off a pitcher and take the slow ride down to the Viking. We took the scenic route through the park then it was over to Grand to bomb down the hill.

We took and opportunity to stop by the Baby Bar to meet the new owner and refuel while trying to recruit more riders. Of course all we got were strange looks. However, we did meet a few of Joe's friends and we all headed over to the Viking. They drove, maybe next time.

We had planned on meeting some folks we knew who where there for a 'meeting'. Of course we were a bit late and waved to them as they skedaddled for their cars. Joe and I enjoyed the warmth, brew and endless basket of popcorn until we agreed to accept a ride back up the hill. I'm not ashamed to say that the trip back up the hill is enough to make me not want to ride down it. This weather only makes it worse.

That being said, I feel this may be the general idea of everyone that does not live on the South Hill. It's tough to imagine having to ride up there to meet with the FBC, only to ride back down it again. I'm taking suggestions for a meeting place further down the hill or even downtown. Feel free to email me or leave a comment.

I took a couple of pictures but nothing spectacular. Click the spoke card to go there.

  1. I admire your perseverance. I've been such a lazy shit since the middle of last month, it's ridiculous. It's not even all that cold here(compared to Spokane anyway).

  2. Sorry I missed it, but week nights are tough for me to make.

  3. There's no shame in taking the bus to get up the hill. I do it all the time.

There are two routes that pass by 29th and Grand. It's actually easier for northsiders/downtowners to get up there that way early on than it is for South Hill folks to ride back up in the middle of the night after the buses have stopped.

I got done with band practice about 9:30 - you guys were probably already downtown by then...

  5. Beneditto's has great beer, but it's not great for folks who didn't want to come up the south hill.

My vote is Baby Bar. Great beer. Tim and Patti (owners) rule. With the new lay out there is a bar in the front room -- which is all window. So you can sit and drink a beer while keeping an eye on your bike.

    All good things.
