Stuff Happening

Here is a fun thing that happens before the next fiasco. Go to the link for more information.

Spokane Summer Parkways
http://summerparkways.com/
"is an idea inspired by an event in Bogota, Columbia called Ciclovia (meaning “bike path” in Spanish) and similar events in other parts of the world. The focus is on recreation, fitness, and community when we close 4 miles of roadway to automobiles and open up the streets to bikes, pedestrians, skaters, and other human-powered transportation."
"In 2011, we’ll be expanding Spokane Summer Parkways to include three different neighborhoods, one of which will host our first night-time event!

Summer Parkways takes place:
Wednesday, June 22, 6-9 PM- Comstock/Manito Neighborhood
Sunday, July 24, 10AM-2PM- North Hill Neighborhood
Sunday, August 14, 10 AM-2PM- Northwest Neighborhood

Don't forget the contest for July
Sketch The Fiasco Contest!
Deadline is July 1 @ 5:00pm

No Pictures of 47

Seriously, how bad could my luck have been to have a completely useless camera for the fiasco? My Mom and Dad were there and everything. I'm real sorry because I know most of you just come to the blogspot to find out when the event is and the pictures of the aftermath. You aren't here for my eloquent retelling of the night. I won't bore you with a bunch of crap about how we avoided most of the rain, the awesome route we got to take or the amazing time we had at The Swamp and Far West Billiards. What I am going to do is offer those that attended an opportunity to win prizes in the first ever

Sketch The Fiasco Contest!

That's right! What you do is sketch moments of the Full Moon Fiasco 47 and label them so we know when and where it happened.
  • Sketch as many as you want
  • Single panel format preferable, but I'm not turning anything down
  • I don't care how bad it is, you have a chance to win.
  • Originality and Funny count.
  • email your entries to:
fbcspokane [at] hot mail {dot} com
  • Be sure to include all appropriate information with your submission:
    name
    email address
    title of entry
    description of entry
What you will win will be determined the night of the Birthday ride on July 15th.

Deadline for entries is 5:00pm July 1st.
I will then post all the entries in a flickr album just like with all the other Fiasco photos, along with the title of the piece and the description you include. I will not post your name or personal information with the images.

If you have other images of any of the past fiascoes, please draw them out and email them to me with the appropriate label. They aren't applicable for this contest, but you may get something for your trouble during the birthday ride in July.

If you have any questions, please email them to me at the address above. I am really looking forward to seeing all the great photos of Full Moon Fiasco 47.

Daytime Party, Upcoming Fiasco

Since we have not been able to have summer like weather yet, let's jump start it with a daytime party. The Elk has been working hard to get ready for Elkfest, and in their efforts they have taken those car parking spaces in front of the building and turned them into bike parking spaces. Rad. To celebrate, they have invited the FBC to come drink their beverages. There will also be an opportunity to win a New Belgium Cruiser! Everyone that shows up on a bicycle will get to enter for a chance to win!

The Elk (directions)

Sunday June 12th at 1:00pm
  • Outdoor Beer Garden
  • Chance to win a New Belgium Cruiser!
  • A Band (probably)
  • Beer and Drink Specials
This marks the first time Spokane has allowed the taking of parking spots by bicycles, so come support this landmark event. There should be Champagne for something like this!

The Full Moon Fiasco 47

And as soon as you  sleep that off, it will be time for the next Fiasco. I am in the final throes of graduating college, so I have been a little busy lately. I don't have a theme, but I do have a fun route planned. So meet me at The Swamp for a bike ride.

Wednesday June 15th at 8:00pm

I'll see you Sunday to kick this thing off.
